Does Somatic Healing Actually Work? Here's a wee bit of proof

What if the thing you've spent your whole life managing didn't need to be managed anymore? What if it could actually move through you - and finally integrate?
That question sits underneath everything I do - and underneath every single woman who's ever sat across from me. Forget the theory for a second. In this post, and in the full episode below, I'm showing you what somatic healing and nervous system regulation actually look like once they stop being buzzwords and start being someone's actual life.

The Pattern Underneath the Pattern
There's a very specific type of woman who ends up across from me. The eldest daughters. The ones running everyone else's life like a CEO runs a company. The therapists and healers everyone else leans on. The moms holding the whole operation together on a to-do list and pure willpower. You'll notice it in every story below - women who decided, a long time ago, that falling apart wasn't an option. Spoiler: it was never actually optional. Their nervous systems just made the call for them.
These stories aren't polished testimonials. To protect the women who trusted me with them, I've changed identifying details and, in some cases, combined pieces of different journeys together. What hasn't changed is the truth underneath - what actually shifted, what actually healed.
The Caretaker Who Learned to Hold Grief and Relief Together
I worked with a woman who spent years caring for a parent who was slowly declining - showing up every day for the meals, the appointments, the parts nobody sees. But underneath the caretaking was a much older story: as a kid, that same parent hadn't been there for her the way she needed.
So when her parent passed, what she felt wasn't simple. It was grief, because she loved them. It was also relief - and guilt for feeling relief at all, and underneath that, an old current of anger she'd never had room to feel. This is what somatic healing work with complex grief actually looks like: not resolving the contradiction, but learning that love and resentment can live in the same body at the same time, without canceling each other out.
The Nervous System That Only Knew One Setting: Go
Some patterns don't look like grief at all - they look like capability. I worked with a woman who is, by any measure, brilliant. The one with the plan. The one everyone leans on. And she could not rest. Not wouldn't - couldn't.
Somewhere early on, slowing down had stopped being safe for her nervous system. This is where nervous system regulation becomes less about mindset and more about the body itself: the work wasn't teaching her to manage her time better. It was teaching her nervous system that rest wasn't a risk anymore — that she could stop, and nothing would fall apart, including her.
The Grief That Doesn't Have an End Point
Not every loss resolves cleanly. I worked with a woman living through a kind of grief that doesn't really have an end point - the loss of her child, a human being woven into her very cells. For a long time, she lived in anger, frustration, sadness, unsure how to make sense of what had happened.
What shifted wasn't that the grief disappeared. She found a way to walk with it instead of being flattened by it - to see the beauty in her life again, and to carry that love forward instead of burying it under the weight of what was lost.
Learning to Trust Her Own Gut Again
The last story is about a woman who came to me mid-transition - grieving, anxious, her nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight so consistently it had started to feel like her personality. One of the biggest shifts came when she started listening to what her gut had already been telling her instead of talking herself out of it.
The proof showed up in her body, too. In an in-person somatic healing session, we worked through tension she'd carried in her back and shoulders for years - tension that finally released, not just managed down. Today, she trusts what she knows instead of needing someone else to confirm it first.
What Changes on the Other Side
Four different women. Four completely different stories. But every single one of them comes out the other side lighter, more themselves, and done apologizing for taking up space. They know who they actually are - not who a pattern from decades ago decided they should be. They're confident enough to finally take the leap they've been sitting on for years. And it's not just a vibe shift - it's a full rewrite of how they see the world.
That's the whole point. That's what real somatic healing and nervous system work actually do - not manage you. Change you.
If you read even one of these and thought, okay, that's a little too accurate - the Intuitive Circle is where we actually do something about it. Twice a month, live, body-based, built around whatever's actually running the show for you right now. Doors are open. Go claim your spot.
